The 430,000 sq. ft. facility includes offices and huge exhibit halls on three levels. The three underground levels are home to extensive artifact collections, many of which are sensitive to moisture and ultraviolet rays and require special temperature and humidity controls. All artifacts are available for public view.

Knutson’s crafts people were recipients of their second national award — the 1993 Best Stone Project — for the Minnesota History Center.
