This expansion and renovation of the hospital included a new 75-bed patient wing and same-day surgery unit and renovation of the hospital’s existing west wing. When completed, the hospital had a total of 108 beds and seven new ORs replacing their existing ones.

New facilities include a relocated morgue on the lower level; expanded ER, 20-bed same day surgery/ambulatory care area and relocated surgical suite on first floor; 40-bed medical-surgical unit with inpatient rehabilitation, pharmacy and respiratory therapy on second floor; a new 29-bed LDRP/pediatrics area/women’s center on third floor; a helicopter landing area on the hospital’s roof; and an 8-bed ICU.

Renovated areas include maintenance, information systems, health information services storage and human resources areas on the lower level; medical staff services, medical library, physician call/sleep rooms, health information services and neurodiagnostics (sleep lab) on first floor; and hospice, 11-bed mental health unit and administration on second floor.

In addition, asbestos was removed from the 1972 building and electrical service/switch gear and mechanical systems were upgraded. The original 1936 building was demolished to accommodate expanded parking, with the nearest spots on the south side of the hospital reserved for patients, families and visitors.
