Matthews Moving Systems knew they could achieve greater operational efficiency in their own customized facility, rather than in leased space. Their new building was designed and located on its 5-acre site to facilitate more efficient movement and parking of trucks. In addition, 26 skylights throughout the warehouse have allowed the company to use approximately 50% less electricity during daylight hours.

The facility is climate-controlled and has a state-of-the-art sprinkler system and remote cameras to keep stored property safe and secure. The large, fenced truck court can accommodate up to 40 trucks and utilizes a secure electronic gating system.

Having a very flat floor with little deviation was critical, not only for Matthews’ racking and storage system but also because the cast floors formed the beds for the tilt-up concrete walls. Knutson used a laser screed to ensure a level, high tolerance floor.
