Adoption of Reality Capture to
Promote Virtual Site Visits

Course Description:

Limiting site access and reducing individuals allowed on project walk-throughs is the new normal. Owners and designers prioritize staff and patient safety and continue to hold virtual walk-throughs and virtual calls for project kick-offs. With this new take on on-site visits, how can members of the AEC industry still ensure they understand the project and plan accordingly while maintaining social distancing? This course will focus on reality capture techniques to reduce impacts on-site, maintain occupant safety, and reduce disruption avoidance on occupied projects.

  1.  Learn how to reduce in-person contact by 75% through reality capture techniques and ensure social distancing is maintained.
  2.  Explore technology solutions to hold virtual site visits and walk-throughs without sacrificing key project information.
  3. Learn how reality capture techniques can reduce disruption avoidance in operational facilities for documentation during non-work hours.
  4. Utilize software to maintain patient privacy and blur faces automatically when completing existing conditions surveys of operational facilities.

About Katie Montag:

As Virtual Design and Construction Director, Katie Montag seeks out ways to utilize virtual design and construction for all aspects of project management, contractor coordination, and visualization. Growing up in central Minnesota, she saw firsthand the skilled mason work of her grandfather. The interest in his craft drew her to complete a Master of Architecture degree from North Dakota State University. After holding traditional design positions, Katie transitioned away from an architect role and pursued her love of construction technology. Today, as a registered architect, she enjoys working alongside designers and owners to investigate and integrate new technology as a problem-solving tool throughout the project lifecycle.
