Treasure Island Resort & Casino 1997 - 2003

The resort hotel located in Red Wing, Minnesota, features 216 rooms, 24 whirlpool suites and seven meeting rooms. Additional amenities include a waterfall-filled tropical swimming pool, hot tubs, child care facilities, video arcade and a fitness room. The Knutson project also incorporated an addition to the existing casino.

Treasure Island employed Knutson as a design/build contractor. Within this framework, Knutson hired and collaborated with an architect to develop the owner's needs into plans and specifications. Involved from the project's inception, Knutson turned its concept-to-completion experience into practical design decisions — saving the owner time and money.

It's the actions taken long before and well after the first truckload of dirt is excavated, however, that distinguish the best companies. As the design/build manager, Knutson began work on the hotel, which was scheduled to open within an 11-month, fast-track time frame. Living by the credo, "Plan the work and work the plan," Knutson meticulously prepared the site and coordinated project details prior to construction.

Less than two months after being selected as design/build manager, construction commenced. Within six months, Treasure Island opened the first three floors of the hotel. The entire seven-story facility was complete in another three months — on time and under budget. As a result of exhaustive planning and teamwork, Knutson met the aggressive completion goal. Even then, Knutson remained on call.
