Systems Administrator (M365)

The Microsoft 365 Systems Administrator will be a key member of the IT Team in a mid-sized organization.  This position will be responsible for managing and maintaining our hybrid cloud Microsoft stack, including O365, Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, Endpoint Manager/Intune, Defender ATP, OneDrive, Teams, other. This role will implement, optimize, secure, and support the modern workplace that delivers transformative solutions to our Knutson Construction workforce.  Hands-on experience with administration and configuration of M365 services is a must.

The key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage Intune and Autopilot to provide consistent and seamless endpoint deployments
  • Ensure efficient operation of the end user computing environment
  • Function as the primary resource for endpoint hardware configuration, software deployment, and security/patch maintenance
  • Manage 3rd party application installation and patching for endpoints
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain Microsoft Defender ATP
  • Administer cloud system backup solutions
  • Perform day to day activities within the Active Directory/Azure AD and O365 tenant including managing user accounts, shared mailboxes, dynamic distribution groups, roles, user permissions, security groups, etc.
  • Provide technical support to end users
  • Create technical documents of implementations, break-fix solutions
  • Analyze and monitor for outages, trends, and global issues with Microsoft stack applications and systems
  • Work alongside other IT team members to develop processes, standards, and solutions that help optimize our computing environment and workforce
  • Assist in the design and implementation of monitoring, configuration management and reporting solutions
  • Assist in administering and maintaining on-prem server infrastructure as needed
  • Help create and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Stay current on latest trends in Microsoft stack applications and systems
  • Asset management

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience administering Azure AD, O365, Endpoint Manager/Intune/Autopilot, Enterprise Mobility + Security, Defender ATP
  • Experience with desktop/software deployment and patching
  • Understanding of cloud computing capabilities and limitations, business drivers, virtualization technologies, Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and Software as a Service Cloud delivery models
  • Knowledge of and experience with cloud backup technologies such as Azure Backup, Azure Recovery Services, Veeam etc.
  • Proficiency in using/administering Windows 10/11 and Microsoft O365 application suite
  • Mobile Device Management of iOS/Android devices
  • Windows Server (2012-2019) administration
  • Active Directory and Group Policy
  • PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Proficiency with core Cybersecurity fundamentals
  • Proficiency with core networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) Knowledge of Cloud and virtual computing environments Azure, AWS, Nutanix Hyper-V, VMWare etc.
  • Experience with performance monitoring, server/system maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Customer service focused with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills

 Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years minimum experience as a M365 System Administrator or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Microsoft Azure/M365 Certifications preferred
  • Security certifications preferred
