Modest Beginnings

Founded in 1911 by Thor Knutson, we have proudly shaped the communities we serve for over a century. Thor, an immigrant from Norway, worked as a dollar-a-day carpenter. His original goal was to earn enough to pay off his father’s farm debts back in Norway. Eight years later, he met his goal. Starting fresh, he then set out to make his own goals and dreams a reality.
