The Knutson Experience : Innovation

The Mother Baby Center in Minneapolis features a metal ribboned ceiling. Building information modeling (BIM) was used to determine the adequate amount of space needed between each ribbon, to locate over 1000 lag screws in the ceiling, and to ensure that the lag screws were correctly placed in the ceiling to line up with the holes in the ribbon panels. Using BIM the team was able to save the owner over $15,000 and expedite the schedule by three weeks.
