Treasure Island is now a destination for entertainment and hospitality. Over the years, Treasure Island has helped Prairie Island Indian Community preserve their cultural integrity and provide a steady, strong level of economic success and opportunity to the entire region. Since 1997, Knutson Construction has partnered with Treasure Island, delivering projects on time and on budget to help the success of the Tribe.

HISTORY
Early Years

Trusted Partners

Spanning several decades, Knutson has completed multiple projects as Prairie Island Indian Community’s construction manager. We understand the importance of encouraging the tribal community to participate in the construction of your facility. We take pride in finding opportunities to give back to the communities we serve. We also understand the importance of involving local subcontractors, and working to ensure they are successful.

One of Knutson’s first project for the resort hotel located in Red Wing, Minnesota, featured 216 rooms, 24 whirlpool suites and seven meeting rooms.

Entertainment Addition

Fun For The Whole Family

When it comes to entertainment, Treasure Island Resort & Casino is raising the stakes. From the biggest names in music to championship boxing, they’ll put you in front of the action. Knutson built the Parlay Lounge, where local entertainers perform every weekend. We also built the 3,000 seat Island Event Center, bowling alley, and most recently did a renovation of their conference room areas.

Event Center

More Than a Casino

Welcoming the biggest and best names in entertainment with the new 30,000 square-foot Island Event Center. Each of the nearly 3,000 seats is specifically designed to offer a stunning view of the stage while providing absolute comfort. Get up close and personal with your favorite band no matter where you’re seated. No seat in the entire event center is more than 125 feet from the stage. The event center auditorium can seat up to 2,800 and contains flexible space for banquets and conventions.

The Lagoon

Something For Everyone

In 2015, Treasure Island broke ground on an addition of a 40,000 square foot which includes a fitness center, an upscale spa and salon, and a water park with two looping slides and a lazy river. The Wave Spa is a full service salon and spa offering hair services (cutting, styling, coloring etc.), pedicures, facials, waxing, make-up and nail services.

Tradewinds Buffet

New Dining Options

Better, fresher and tastier than ever, the new and improved Tradewinds Buffet opened September 2015. The $7.25M, 16,000 SF remodel features glass mosaic tiles, lighted onyx stone walls, and an ultra high-tech video display wall.

Tado Steakhouse

Balanced Elegance

The 150-seat Tado Steakhouse features natural wood, stone and metal. Key elements include: a custom fireplace and display wall located at the entrance. Warm tones and rich materials are used throughout the space, creating a series of intimate
scaled environments.

The RARE bar | lounge features a warm wood bar with smoked mirror bar back and lounge seating. The main dining space is shaped by wood slat wall and ceiling elements from which hang down custom light fixtures, creating a series of rooms within the
larger space.

Hotel Expansion

Upscale Upgrade

In direct response to high occupancy rates, RSP partnered with Knutson Construction to design and build a 184,000 SF hotel expansion. The two new hotel towers add 300 guest rooms — including 60 suites overlooking the bluffs of Prairie Island — bringing the resort’s total to over 800 rooms. One tower is eight stories and the other is seven.

With the addition of hotel rooms, Treasure Island will be able to accommodate not only casino guests, but resort visitors, concert-goers, conference attendees and families seeking a quick getaway. In addition to the hotel expansion, the existing hotel lobby was completely renovated to improve the guest check-in experience.

COMMUNITY
Elder Assisted Living Center

Honoring Culture

This 38,000SF single-story elder center was developed in partnership with Ebenezer Management Services and Knutson Construction. One of the project goals was to incorporate culture and community within the spaces, reflecting the honor and respect for the elders of their community.

Prairie Island Indian Community Law Enforcement Center

Growing Community

Due to the ongoing expansion of the Treasure Island Resort & Casino facility as well as the growing community, there was a need to renovate and expand the existing Prairie Island Indian Community (PIIC) Law Enforcement Center and Courtroom. This project consisted of the 2,390 sq. ft. addition of a new courtroom, offices, waiting areas, and clerk area. As well as an 800 sq. ft. remodel of the existing courtroom into a meeting room and additional offices.

Dakota Station Car Wash & Convenience Store

Strong Relationships

Knutson was hired in 2005 to build the Dakota Station and Convenience Store. This portion of the project consisted of a 3,200 sq. ft. convenience store, including a large cooler section, deli, and kitchen. The exterior of the facility has two canopies, five gas pump islands, one diesel pump island, and a 1,500 sq. ft. parking lot. Knutson came back again in 2009, and 2016 to add a single bay touchless automatic car wash facility, two new bathrooms, additional cooler and food storage area, food prep areas, and a food serving area.

Working on Sovereign Lands

Our job is to transform ideas into reality, on-time and on-budget, while minimizing disruption and creating a positive team experience. Working with Native communities begins by understanding the importance of sovereignty. The developments undertaken by the Tribe, while important individually, are all a means to increase the economic, political, spiritual and ecological independence of the tribe and its people.
