The Coralville Transit Intermodal Facility is a post tensioned concrete parking structure with one level on-grade and two stories high, designed to support convenient, sustainable, and accessible community transportation options. The transportation facility opened in August 2015 and promotes several modes of transportation, including: cars, buses, taxis, and bikes, and is planned to accommodate the future possibility of light rail. It accommodates a total of 450 parking spaces to increase bus ridership and ease of use. The project also included construction of access drives, landscaping, and a 5,775 square foot terminal building. The intermodal is located in the Iowa River Landing, with easy access from Interstate 80 Exit 242. The intermodal facility also includes a comfortable, enclosed passenger waiting areas with protection from the elements, restrooms, Free WiFi, electric car charging stations in the lower parking area, LED lighting, stormwater planters, and connectivity to the local trail system.
